Heartworm is a serious, potentially fatal disease in pets. Spread by mosquitos, heartworm is exactly what it sounds like — worms in an animal’s heart and lungs. If you were lucky enough to get into Dr. Orville Krause’s career day presentation at Armada Middle School back in the day, you’ve likely seen a jar containing a heartworm-infected heart.
